Our focus has always been on our - and others' - research, into young children's meaning-making and communicating of their mathematical thinking, in ways that make sense to them, and it has occurred to us that the title of our network should reflect this.

United Kingdom (and especially from England), indicating the very 

significant interest here, in more holistic and meaningful approaches for children, to early 'written' mathematics.

      However, as the details below reveal, there is also growing interest globally, in this important aspect of young children's mathematical understandings and its abstract written language.
