Project 2003: Children's Mathematical Graphics and Early Excellence
Centres An action research project supported by the Institute of Education, London
University and Mirandanet and funded by the DfES and the General Teaching Council. A
significant aspect of the research scholarship included planning, managing and
facilitating a national online community of teachers from Early Excellence Centres
throughout England. The teachers developed both their understanding of childrens
early mathematical mark-making and their pedagogy through a blended learning approach.
A unique feature of this discussion forum was the inclusion of examples of children's
mathematical graphics that were contributed by teachers in the project, from the children
in their settings. These 'e-nat-graphics' were visible on the same screen as the text of
the discussion |
